I will have a ball and be toward the wing position, about half-way between the baseline and the FT line extended. I want the player facing me, in ready, bent-knee stance, on good balance, with the arms extended toward the ball, hands anticipating a pass. I will pass in to the post and have them take the ball in to the chest, pressing the ball tight with both hands, elbows pointed out (parallel with the lane line). I emphasize always keeping the eyes on the ball, looking the pass right into their hands, before they attempt any other movement. Well do this several times, until the player is comfortable with the procedure and until I too feel they can do the drill and move on.
Basketball Dribbling Drills - Dribble Like A Pro, Learning how to dribble a basketball is imperative to becoming a skilled and talented basketball player. Dribbling a basketball effectively can help position a player to begin the flow of the offense, escape from a harassing defender, and get around a screen to open up passing and shooting options, amongst other advantages.
Sit Dribbling Sit on the floor, your legs crossed in front of you. Dribble the ball with your right hand, and dribble it around your back as far as you can get to your left side. Then pass the ball to your left hand and continue to dribble the ball around to the front of you and then pass it to your right hand. Essentially, you are dribbling the ball around your body and passing it from one hand to another. Repeat this drill 15 times, and then do the same drill in the opposite direction.
